Dear Lessons in Focus,
Over the course of the past couple of months I’ve gotten to learn so much valuable information, which I believe will impact me for the rest of my life.
It began with testing my attention span by looking at a picture for ten minutes, something that I didn’t realize would be so eye opening. Through this I learned just how bad my ability to focus was.
Throughout these months I’ve had the opportunity to learn so much about improving focus, from doing a data detox to learning how to utilize project management software. Although it wasn’t something I decided to do willingly on my own accord, I’ve found that I continue to still use what I’ve learned now. So much so that I plan all my significant assignments and personal projects in project management applications.
All of these trials, errors, and learning experiences led me to write an informative paper on focus within the design industry. I never truly thought about how things like social media and shortened attention could affect creatives significantly, however, doing this research allowed me to connect all the dots. Especially in a world that’s saturated by short form content, I’ve come to realize that designers are the ones who have to mimic and recreate this content.
As someone who wants to do into the design industry, I find myself thinking about building deeper connections. Fostering relationships with the audience I’m trying to reach through meaningful content. This is the biggest theme I decided to explore in my paper. Hopefully to anyone who may be reading this and interested, please feel free to take a look below to gain some deeper insight to these themes!
Sincerely,
Someone who’s thankful to have gone through this experience
